Over the summer Arden Building Companies (ABC)—Arden Engineering Constructors, Corporate Mechanical of New England, and MJ Daly hosted 11 bright and engaged interns. As part of ABC’s commitment to nurturing tomorrow’s mechanical engineering, construction and service workforce, our intern programs provided real world experiences. These programs are designed to help them discover the range of valuable roles and responsibilities that exist within our industry and give them hands on experience as they move into their careers. Following are two events that the interns took part in this summer.

Arden Building Companies Summer Interns

Project Day

All the interns gathered at MJ Daly’s facility in Waterbury, CT, where they worked on a variety of hands-on projects. They participated in critical on-the-job tasks, including estimating, identifying equipment within a drawing, pipe fabrication methods, brazing, soldering, ProPress, and compression flaring.

Intern Day

Two groups of interns presented themselves as a fictitious mechanical contracting firm to a general contractor to be awarded the mechanical scope of a project which they worked on throughout their interships. They explained their company’s history, introduced their project team, and shared their relevant project experience. They effectively conveyed why their company should be chosen for the project by touching on key points including safety, integrity, innovation, and community. They also explained how their highly skilled and experienced workforce, in-house fabrication capabilities, and efficiency through technology made them the right choice for the project.
